This rental hut – former forest keeper’s place – is suitable for an undemanding hiker. In cold weather the sauna stove can be heated. The hut is on the bank of the Raudna River, with a campfire site nearby. It is possible to go walking on Ingatsi study trail.
Amenities:
Sauna and accommodation for 9 people. Sleeping on the floor, guests must bring their own mattress and bedding. No electricity in the cottage, unstable/poor mobile phone connection is unstable. There is a fire ring with barbecue grill, landing, dry toilet, well. Well water is unsuitable for use and visitors need to bring along drinking water.

Parking for 5 cars or 3 minibuses.

Karuskose forest keeper’s house, traditional forest keeper’s farmyard, traditional garden plants, curve of the Raudna River, orchard, semi-natural landscapes.
Winter accessibility:
Parking area and access roads are maintained. Firewood is provided at the campfire site.
NB! In winter when the outside temperature falls below -10°C, it is cold in the hut despite heating. No heating upstairs, which is meant for sleeping. This is why overnight stay in the hut in winter is recommended only with proper winter sleeping gear!
Driving directions:
Karuskose rental hut is located in Põhja-Sakala municipality, Viljandi County. When coming from the direction of Tallinn–Pärnu–Tori, drive to Tori, turn onto the Võlli road that leads to the national park. Drive 6 km along the Jõesuu road and turn right before driving into Jõesuu village. From the bridge across the Halliste River at Riisa village, drive 2.3 km towards Karuskose up to the junction, turn left and drive 2.5 km to the rental hut.
When coming from the direction of Tartu and Viljandi, drive along the Tartu–Viljandi–Pärnu road to Kõpu and turn right into the Kõpu-Jõesuu road after passing the Kõpu cemetery. Drive 27 km up to the bridge over the Raudna River at Riisa village, Tori municipality, drive across the bridge and take the first turning to the right. It is 2.5 km from there to Karuskose rental hut.

Camping only for users of the forest hut, max 5 tents, 5€ per person. Pet 5€ per night.
RMK rental huts are locked cottages mainly for the hikers who plan their hike more thoroughly. A rental hut provides the privacy for the user and therefore a “key fee” must be paid.
As a user of Forest House you should know the following:
1) The Forest House is open only at pre-booked times
2) The estimated time of use is from 14.00 to 12.00 the following day
3) The number of users of the house is 9 people due to fire safety requirements
4) Persons under the age of 18 can book and use the hut only together with an adult
5) The user must leave the equipment and the house clean when they leave
6) The user returns the key to the caretaker of the house at the agreed time
