Soontaga rental hut is an ideal place for people who want to enjoy the silence, read a book, and take pleasure in sauna and the cool lake water in the evening. However, if reading and sauna is not enough, it is possible to go for a short walk on the signposted hiking trail, which takes you to the bank of the Väike-Emajõgi River. Soontaga Nature Reserve is undoubtedly an exciting place for bird watchers – here you can meet the black stork, the osprey and in the evenings, the Ural owl. Therefore, have your binoculars at hand!

The hut sleeps 6 people. Pet – 5€ per night.
Please bring your own sleeping equipment, dishes, drinking water. Only battery based light sources are allowed in the forest hut, the use of candles is prohibited. There is a wood-heated cooking stove, table and benches, bunks and a sauna in the hut. There is dry toilet and the campfire site outside only usesrs of the rental hut. No drinking water, no electricity.

Winter accessibility:
In the hut there is a cooking stove with “hot wall”. Firewood provided.
For winter use a warm winter hiking equipment (sleeping, mat etc) is needed.
Driving directions:
On Võru–Kuigatsi–Tõrva road, 3 km from the Jõhvi–Tartu–Valga road junction, turn right onto the small gravel road (follow the sign “RMK Soontaga metsamaja ja telkimisala”), drive about 3 km and turn left (sign “RMK Soontaga metsamaja ja telkimisala”). After about 1 km turn left before the artificial lake. Follow the sign “RMK Soontaga metsamaja”.
Additional information:
Tent camping (max 8 persons) is allowed only for booked guests of the rental hut, price 5 € per visitor.
RMK rental huts are locked cottages mainly for the hikers who plan their hike more thoroughly. A rental hut provides the privacy for the user and therefore a “key fee” must be paid.
As a user of Forest House you should know the following:
1) The Forest House is open only at pre-booked times
2) The estimated time of use is from 14.00 to 12.00 the following day
3) The number of users of the house is 9 people due to fire safety requirements
4) Persons under the age of 18 can book and use the rental hut only when accompanied by an adult
5) The user must leave the equipment and the house clean when they leave
6) The user returns the key to the caretaker of the house at the agreed time
